That is so freeing…

Free.
Freedom.
Being able to choose for yourself.

We often think that we are in charge of other people’s feelings.
“I just want to make sure he’s happy.”
“I don’t want her to get offended.”
“I just don’t want them to be disappointed.”
My clients say things like this when they first start their coaching sessions with me.

Then they learn that everyone is actually in charge of their own thoughts and their own feelings.
We can’t make anyone feel something.
And they can’t make us feel something.

When that idea clicks in their mind, I see something sort of magical happen.
Their body relaxes.
The tension in their face eases.
And they say, “That feels so freeing.”

I’m grateful to live in a country where I get to experience so many freedoms.
I’m grateful for those who have struggled and fought for each freedom that is a part of my life.
I’m grateful to continue the fight for freedoms I believe in.
I’m grateful I have a mind that is meant to govern only my own feelings.
I’m grateful that my same mind allows others to be in charge of themselves.

I am free.
In so many ways.
I’m so grateful for my freedom. ✊🏻💙
