New Year. New Memory.

New year.
New memory.

I admit.
Jason and I were never the “late night party people.”
We liked going on movie dates in the middle of the afternoon.
We willingly crept dangerously close to the senior citizen desired dinner time of 4:30 pm.

So, New Year’s Eve for the Halls consisted of letting Coleman choose a two-minute Netflix countdown to watch at 9:15 and banging pans to ring in the new year.

Then, as he got older, the party really got going when he got to watch ALL of the Netflix countdowns back-to-back.
Twenty awesome minutes later, everyone was in bed and sleeping their way to the new year.

This year, my parents asked if we wanted to join them at Hale Center Theater to watch a late night special party performance of “Seussical.”

We opted in.
New year.
New memory.

Coleman’s first “real” New Year’s Eve Party.
The pre-show band cranked out 80’s hits and Coleman acted like they were playing just for his dancing pleasure.
My dad asked, “How does he know all the words to these songs?”
“He doesn’t, Dad. He’s faking it.”

Passion. Enthusiasm. 100% All-In. Joy.

New year.
New memory.
Mingled in my mind with the old ones.

May your 2020 be full of Coleman-style joy and enthusiasm!
Wishing you the happiest new year.
