Jason’s Tomatoes
🍅
Jason’s mom has a friend who told her that this year she bought a tomato plant in Jason’s honor.
She had read our book, Messy Victories.
It has a story about Jason’s tomatoes.
She remembered that story and thought of Jason when she planted her tomatoes.
I love this so much!
Jason’s mom loved it, too.
So, when we gathered at his grave on the two-year anniversary of Jason’s death, Sophia brought a tomato plant.
We honestly didn’t think it would make it.
The wind. The heat. The lack of controlled the water availability. No chance for this tomato plant.
But she brought it anyway.
Now it’s almost two months later.
And look!
Tomatoes are growing!
This plant has persevered the lack of ideal conditions and grown anyway.
It has grown anyway!😱
There.
That’s the story.
I’m going to let you think about this in any way that speaks to you.
Whatever thoughts you’re having and feelings you’re feeling about this scrawny little plant, feel them! Think them!
I love whatever that message is for you.
If you’re up for it, tell us in the comments what you’re thinking about this plant.
This story.
These determined tomatoes.
I can’t wait to learn from you.
Love you all.✊🏻💙
