What’s Making the Cut?

Jif-Whips.jpg

We like peanut butter at our house
I eat Crazy Richards creamy version.
Coleman likes the stuff with all the things added. I buy him Jif brand Whips.

Since the pandemic, I can’t find Whips anywhere. The normal spot it sits at my local Walmart is empty. No tag even. So I checked Smiths. Target. Nothing. I’ve even looked on Amazon. No luck.

Whips are still on my grocery list. I’ll look again for it. I’m holding out hope.
But I’ve pretty much come to a conclusion.
Whips didn’t make the Corona Cut.
In the land of Jif, someone probably decided that Whips didn’t measure up somehow. Not enough sales, maybe it’s too complicated to make, perhaps the packaging creates added expense.
Whatever the reason, I don’t think that Whips are coming back.

The Corona Cut.
Ten months ago life as we knew it shut down.
Some things are opening up again.
But maybe some stuff just isn’t important enough to bring back.
Activities, traditions, thoughts, ideas of how things should be.
We have the tendency to say “I just want to go back to how it was before.”
But do we really?
I kind of like this forced state of having to look at things with a more critical eye. Deciding if I really DO want certain things in my life instead of just assuming that they HAVE to be.

We’re in the days of the Corona Cut, people.
I don’t think Whips made it through.
I admit, I feel a little disappointed when I think about that.
But I’m also kind of excited.
Excited to decide for myself what makes the cut for me.
