Team Coleman

Male role model.
Positive masculine influence.
Father figure.

Coleman’s dad died.
He’s missing his father.
But we have no shortage of male role models.
He’s not missing men who provide a  positive influence.

He’s always had lots of those.
Since he was born, we’ve put people in his life for that exact purpose.

This summer Coleman has gone camping with his Uncle Kent.
He planted a garden with our friend, Richard.
He went fishing with Uncle Todd.
He golfs with Grandpa Hall.
He did an 8-mile hike in the dark with his cousins Ryan and Cragun.
He’s been supported in his golf ball selling biz by our neighbor, Doug.
Grandpa Coleman let him build a fort in the car during their drive to St. George.
He made it up the 10’ Warped Wall with Coach Ayden’s encouragement.
And possibly the ultimate 11-year-old-boy dream come true…he learned to ride a dirt bike from our friend, Tony.

Positive male influences.
Reaching out.
Bringing him in.
Teaching him things.
Doing guy stuff.
Jason floating in and out of all of those moments.
Watching over his son.
Orchestrating where he can.

Coleman and I have had to make some decisions together recently.
Twice in one week, he has come to me with a new idea that solved the problem we were puzzling over. An idea that felt exactly right.
And I believe his dad is also influencing him.
Still talking to him.
Helping him work out solutions.
Guiding. Encouraging. Teaching.
Still his father figure.
From a place that is nearby yet feels so far away.

Thank you neighbors, friends, grandpas, uncles, cousins and coaches.
Thank you for standing up and noticing my son.
Thank you for choosing to be a strong male role model for him.
Thank you for being part of Team Coleman.💙✊🏻
