Snapshot: From burnout to thriving
Normally Kolette writes these posts, but today I wanted to share a behind-the-scenes look at what it's like to work closely with Kolette and how it has changed my life and my business.
My name is McKenna (those are my cute kids in the picture above) and I work as Kolette's marketing director.
Three years ago I was a brand new mom and I was learning how to balance motherhood and my marketing business.
It was hard.
I felt like I was working from a place of emergency.
Everything was urgent.
I was at the mercy of my never-ending to-do list.
I felt on the edge of burnout and as my business & baby grew, and my time shrank.
I thought I could outwork the stress I was feeling.
I time-blocked my calendar.
I added employees.
I made more to-do lists.
I hired a nanny.
But still, it was hard to do it all.
I was dropping the ball in motherhood, in my relationships and in my business.
I was in survival mode.
I wanted to go to bed before midnight and play with my daughter without feeling the urge to respond to a client’s text.
But I also wanted to continue to run a successful business.
I felt like I had to choose between one or the other.
I thought, "I wish I could clone myself! There must be a better way."
So I started implementing what Kolette was teaching her clients.
I asked Kolette questions at our weekly meetings.
I spent the next year working on something I hadn’t thought of tackling before… my mindset.
Kolette helped me realize that I was using stress as a motivator.
She helped me create a reality with more possibilities.
One that felt sustainable, even enjoyable.
I gained a new set of tools to help me manage my roles as CEO, mom, wife, advocate, and community leader.
I saw that Kolette had created a business that complimented her life instead of overtaking it. I wanted that too. And watching her achieve it made me feel like it was possible.
And while my business grew, my workload didn't.
Referrals poured in.
Clients were thrilled.
I had a second baby.
I took time off - something I never could have imagined doing after my first baby.
My work/life balance felt harmonious.
I’m a different person than I was 3 years ago when I started my business.
I’m a different person than I was 7 weeks ago when I had my second baby.
And while my life has become arguably more chaotic the weight on my shoulders has been lifted.
I feel fulfilled in my roles.
I’m at peace in this season of life.
I am confident in my decisions.
I have more confidence and clarity about my priorities.
I am successful and not rushed or frantic.
I have more time for myself and my family.
Managing my mind has made all the difference.
