My Take on the Parable of the Talents:

The story in Matthew 25 is of a man who gave his servants five, two or one talent, according to their ability.

The servant who was given 5, doubled his and so did the servant who was given 2 talents.

The servant who was given 1 talent, buried it. He was afraid of losing it.

The reckoning with the man was joyous for those servants who created more with their talents. But the one who hid his talent had to actually give his puny little 1 talent to the guy who had 10!

Not the best choice to bury that talent.

Here’s what I think.

Before he came to earth, Jason was probably assigned to the 5 talents group - he could do a lot of things really well so it makes sense that he had 5 talents to work with.

He also knew he could double those talents with persistence, hard work and some charisma thrown in for good measure.

Total confidence that he could turn the 5 into 10.

But then the Lord said, “Ok, I can tell that you’re going to do a great job with those talents...let’s see what you can do with this...” and he handed him one of those vests with weights in them that people use to make their workout harder.

“Just put that on. Carry that around with you and every so often we’ll add a little more weight to it. You can still turn those 5 talents into 10. I believe in you.”

So he did it. Jason put on that vest and committed to carrying whatever weight it held. Confident that he would not give up.

But it was heavy.
Really heavy.

Then the Lord said, “I know it’s heavy. Maybe even more than you can bear. So, I’m here for you. As a matter of fact, there’s a spot for me in that vest to stand right beside you and carry that weight with you. We’ll do this together.”

And then they did.

I like to think that’s how Jason’s own “Parable of the Talents” went down. ✊🏼💙
