Love at Home
🎵
Jason loves the things that the people he loves care about.
Hmmm...does that even make sense?🤷🏻‍♀️
I’ll explain.
He is passionate.
He is a superfan.
He is loyal.
His brother married Roger Penske’s daughter. Even though he had never watched a race before that, Jason immediately became all-in for Team Penske and NASCAR.
He went to the high school ballgames and theater productions, bought the swag and cared about the outcomes. All because the neighborhood kids cared.
His Grandma Hall’s favorite song was called “Love at Home.”
Since it was his grandma’s favorite, it became one of his favorites, too.
After church choir practice one Sunday, Jason told Livai Moala, our ten-year-old neighbor and fellow choir participant, about his Grandma’s favorite song.
He asked if Livai knew “Love at Home” in Tongan.
He did.
In true Jason fashion, he encouraged Livai to sing it for him. Right there. After choir practice.
Livai, in all of his awesomeness, did.
“There is beauty all around
When there’s love at home;
There is joy in every sound,
When there’s love at home...”
A couple of weeks ago we got notified that someone rang our doorbell.
It was the Moala kids.
I looked at the camera and immediately told Coleman to hurry and talk to them them over the speaker.
We’re coming!
We’ll be home in five minutes!
Please wait!
I knew what they were there for.
I knew that they wanted to sing for us.
To help me during this month where emotions are running high and sadness sometimes closes in.
I really wanted to hear them.
I really needed it.
We rushed home and the entire cul-de-sac was treated to these songs.
Livai knows what Grandma Hall’s favorite song is.
He’s never met her. She passed away when Jason was young. But Livai knows something about her.
Because that’s what Jason does.
He’ll love your thing...and then his loyalty and passion shines so brightly that you can’t help but start to love his thing, too.
“Kindly heaven smiles above
When there’s love at home.”✊🏻💙
