I’m not going the normal business route.

Q: What is your zone of genius? How much time do you spend doing that thing?

I have reverse-engineered the work-life balance I want.

I decided up front that I wanted to create a thriving business.

But here’s the catch…I wanted to do it only working two and a half days a week during school hours.

And I want to work in my zone of genius for as many of those hours as I can.

You might call me crazy and say that it’s not possible to do this from the get-go.

You might think that this kind of work-life balance is only possible AFTER I have hustled through years of building a startup.

Maybe you tell your wife that there will be a magical point in the growth of your business that won’t require you to stay at work till 8pm every night.

It’s coming, you say. Someday.

You hang on to the belief that this relentless work ethic will be worth it someday.

But you feel pressure to make it happen.

You feel pulled in multiple directions but like you’re letting people down at every turn.

You have drive and motivation.

You have grit and determination.

And you feel a lot of stress.

There is no possible way to get your to-do list done but you keep over-committing anyway.

You move the undone things from today to tomorrow’s list, knowing that you have no chance of doing it all tomorrow either.

But this is what high-achievers do.

You just keep working harder.

I’m not going that route.

I have a thriving business on my terms.

I have set it up exactly the way I want to.

But I’ll be honest, I still wonder if I’m doing “enough.”

That thought definitely creeps in.

It doesn’t seem hard enough.

Shouldn’t it be harder to be successful?

It doesn’t feel like I’m working enough.

It seems like it should be more difficult.

So, I must be missing something.

There must be some work that I’m not realizing I have to do.

But there’s not.

I’ve set it up exactly the way I wanted to.

This is how I’ve done it:

I write emails (these emails that you receive weekly). I enjoy writing.

Then my digital director pulls pieces and parts from them to create social media posts.

She also makes sure that our client experience is running smoothly.

This is her zone of genius.

I spend time on my self-concept and belief.

I do the brain work it takes to think what I want to be thinking.

I consciously move ideas from potentiality to possibility.

Then I work to move that possibility into becoming a predictable belief.

I spend deliberate time on this.

I create powerful solutions and processes for my clients. Easy ways for them to understand high-level principles. I think of effective ways to teach these solutions that are adaptable and immediately useable for them.

My goal is that one session together can change everything for them.

This is my specialty.

I work in my zone of genius and surround myself with people who work in theirs.

I have reverse-engineered my ideal work-life balance.

I figured out what I wanted and created it. My work did not create my life.

This is what we do when you and I work together.

We create your ideal work-life life.

You learn to know when you’re doing enough.

You get support from me to remind you if you forget.

Your unique work-life balance dream is available.

I know that it doesn’t seem possible - yet.

But it’s closer than you think.

Because I already believe it for you.

Sending love,

K
